NFC Tags are for instance used in buses to validate your transport card with your phone. Other example: You will still be able to connect to a NFC device (e.g a speaker) with this disabled. Android users frequently spot 'com.android.apps.tag' running persistently in Battery Usage, Network Data Monitor, or Developer Running Services.
