Technical Analysis & Behavior
Package Analysis for 'com.sec.android.providers.security' (Oem / Recommended Debloat Target): Provider of password security policies? Content providers encapsulate data, providing centralized management of data shared between apps. Seems to provide access to a password database but I don't know under what circumstances this database is used. This provider is only usable by Samsung apps. I see a com.android.security.PASSWORD_EXPIRED intent filter in the AndroidManifest so my guess is it handles password policies. For example: A policy could force a user to change their password after a certain amount of time. That's a common policy in enterprise work. Android users frequently spot 'com.sec.android.providers.security' running persistently in Battery Usage, Network Data Monitor, or Developer Running Services. Note: Malicious trojans and stalkerware APKs also frequently spoof legitimate Oem system package names like 'com.sec.android.providers.security' to evade manual detection.
